- 4 cups sliced onions
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Place sliced onions and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until onions are tender. Drain.
- In a small bowl, whisk together milk, flour, salt, and pepper.
- Add butter to the saucepan and melt over medium heat.
- Pour in the milk mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Return the drained onions to the saucepan. Stir to coat.
- Serve hot.
