  • 1 cup chopped mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and garlic and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Let cool slightly.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Spread the cooked mushroom mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border on one long edge.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the mushroom mixture.
  6. Starting from the long edge with the filling, roll the puff pastry tightly into a log.
  7. Cut the log into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  8. Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving.
