A rich and decadent pound cake with a smooth cream cheese glaze.

- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- For the Glaze:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another small bowl, whisk together the sour cream.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches your desired consistency.
- Spread the glaze over the cooled cake.
