  • For the Glaze:
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. In another small bowl, whisk together the sour cream.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the glaze, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  11. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  12. Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches your desired consistency.
  13. Spread the glaze over the cooled cake.
