- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Gradually add milk, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into small, bite-sized pieces.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the dough pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or paprika to the dough.
