A simple and quick homemade pasta sauce perfect for a weeknight meal.
Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, basil, and oregano.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for a richer flavor.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over your favorite pasta.
Notes
- You can add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms.
- For a spicier sauce, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
