Description

Crispy Filipino eggrolls filled with savory meat and vegetables. A crowd-pleasing appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup finely chopped carrots
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2025 lumpia wrappers
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, brown the ground pork over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add carrots, celery, onion, and garlic to the pan. Cook until vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, water, black pepper, and salt. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Let the filling cool completely.
  5. Lay a lumpia wrapper on a flat surface. Place 1-2 tablespoons of filling near one edge.
  6. Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling, then roll tightly from the filled edge. Seal the end with a little water.
  7. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  8. Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Fry lumpia in batches for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Drain on paper towels.

Notes

  • Serve with sweet chili sauce or vinegar dipping sauce.
  • Lumpia can be frozen before frying.
