Ingredients

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
- Chocolate shavings, for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Boil for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla extract until butter is melted and incorporated.
- Pour pudding into individual serving dishes or a large bowl.
- Cover with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming.
- Chill for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
- Before serving, top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Notes
- For a deeper chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- You can add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate taste.
- Ensure you stir the pudding constantly while cooking to prevent lumps.
