A hearty and comforting casserole featuring layers of ground beef, tender cabbage, and a rich cheesy sauce.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 cup cooked rice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the onion and garlic. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
- Add beef broth and tomato soup. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in cooked rice.
- Pour half of the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the beef mixture.
- Top with the remaining beef mixture and the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier casserole, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- You can substitute the rice with cooked egg noodles.
- Add a layer of sliced tomatoes on top of the cheese for extra flavor.
