  • 1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more to taste)
  • 24 tablespoons cold water
  • Salt to taste
  • Olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the carrots by peeling and cutting them into sticks.
  2. In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Process the mixture until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  4. With the food processor running, slowly add cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the hummus reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Season the hummus with salt to taste.
  6. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a little olive oil.
  7. Serve the spicy hummus with the carrot sticks for dipping.
