- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 head green cabbage, cored and shredded
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
- Stir in chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Stir in shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, beef broth, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
- You can use ground turkey or pork instead of beef.
