Description
Sticky and sweet brown sugar pineapple chicken wings are a crowd-pleasing appetizer or main dish. The glaze is a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds chicken wings, flats and drumettes
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, pineapple juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper.
- Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss to coat them evenly with the sauce.
- Arrange the coated chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through, until cooked through and the glaze is caramelized.
- If you want a thicker glaze, you can broil the wings for the last 1-2 minutes, watching them closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
- For crispier wings, bake them for 10 minutes before adding the sauce and continuing to bake.
- Adjust the amount of brown sugar or soy sauce to suit your taste.
- Ensure the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
