Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1 package (8 count) refrigerated biscuits
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brown sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. While sausage is cooking, cut biscuits into quarters.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage. Stir and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until thickened and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour half of the gravy into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange biscuit pieces over the gravy.
  7. Pour remaining gravy over the biscuits.
  8. If desired, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
