A comforting casserole featuring layers of biscuits, sausage, and gravy, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 package (8 count) refrigerated biscuits
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brown sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- While sausage is cooking, cut biscuits into quarters.
- Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage. Stir and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until thickened and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour half of the gravy into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Arrange biscuit pieces over the gravy.
- Pour remaining gravy over the biscuits.
- If desired, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can use any type of breakfast sausage you prefer.
- For a spicier gravy, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- This casserole can be assembled the night before and baked in the morning.
