Amish Sour Cream Cornbread is a moist and flavorful cornbread made with the addition of sour cream.

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and sour cream.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
- Let the cornbread cool slightly in the pan before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter cornbread, you can increase the amount of sugar.
- You can substitute buttermilk for the milk and sour cream for a tangier flavor.
- Serve warm with butter or honey.
